Cefotaxime

Description

Cefotaxime (brand names include: Claforan / Biotax / Cefotax / Oritaxim / Omnatax / Lyforan / Sefotak / Taxime) is a third generation cephalosporin antibiotic.

Cefotaxime is indicated for the treatment of patients with serious infections.

Indications include:

Lower respiratory tract infections, including pneumonia
Genitourinary infections including uncomplicated gonorrhea
Gynecologic infections, including pelvic inflammatory disease, endometritis and pelvic cellulitis
Bacteremia/Septicemia
Skin and skin structure infections
Intra-abdominal infections including peritonitis
Bone and joint infections
Central nervous system infections including meningitis and ventriculitis
